Everyone knows how to do something. Whether it's playing a
guitar, gardening, carpentry, knitting, painting with watercolors, caring for an iguana...we've all acquired certain skills in our lives, and it's only right that we should want to share the results of our hobby and also share what we've learned about how to do it well.

On this site, I'm going to talk about my own skill or hobby. I'll give a bit of history on the subject itself, as well as some background on how I got involved in it. I might also include some instructions on how to perform my hobby, as well as any tips or tricks I've acquired through the years. And, of course, I'll include lots of pictures of the results of my hobby or of me enjoying myself doing it.

Please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think of this site. Also feel free to contribute to this site with your own tips.

A select few collectors know the story of George Washington
taking his wife Martha's silverware and having Dimes minted
from them. A young man I knew many years ago collected this
series of dimes that were reputed to be made from her silverware. His exhuberance in pursuing a lead for one of
these coins is what sparked my interest to begin the fascinating hobby. ###

Evolution of Coinages

The 4 coin and grain photo is to illustrate the origin of
coinage or the evolution of coins and how their weight became
establihed. You will find this Evolution of Coinage on the above link "Coin Article" Just click on to read this interesting account *******
There are many avenues to collecting and just learning about
different periods of history. Ancient coins can lead to
almost every type of collecting one wishes to do. For Example, there are many varieties of every issue by any one
Ruler.

The coin above is a Tetra-obol weighs 45 grains (Attic).
I doubled the image of the reverse for effect. I wish to
emphasize the blob on the shank of the anchor. You will find
the story of how I came by this very rare coin within these
pages. The Obverse has the Celtic horse head image and is mentioned only casually in my story. The anchor on this coin tells a most interesting story. I hope you will read it. Tell me what you think about it in an email. This coin is a museum piece. I owned it for 20 years before it was listed by the Greek authorative work by David Sears-publication of Seaby's Numismatic Publications This coin represents the thrill of discovery. And is what makes coin collecting King of the Hobbies (in my honest opinion). Read this Tetra-Obol Anchor Story. Coin dates 305-290 BC

When you have gone through these pages, I have yet another site altogether different- check it out as you will find other items and articles of interest there- just click anywhere on this text
